Love the Moms

Hey! Today I'd like to tell you about my (Dori) heart. Since I started looking into options for starting a business, I've been getting deep into the whole topic of parenting. I am a mom, I live life with little children, and was blessed with learning about that stuff for 3 years in a tight school program. (Germans don't joke about their education).

I started an Instagram account in September 2024, where I share parenting tips and thoughts. I gained 677 Followers as of today. And I get all sorts of responses.

A lot of people wrote harsh comments about how we should tell our kids what to do and how they always have to behave the right way. That showed me a lot about our society here in Germany. How people grew up and how children are often seen as something annoying instead of little people who are looking up to us to learn about the world.

There are many people out there who love children. So don't get me wrong. But I still experience in Germany more coldness about children. Children have to be quiet, children have to be clean, children have to be respectful.

I am not against healthy boundaries for children. They learn from us. But these boundaries should be set in love. And we need to be role models.

I am a big fan of "Connected Families" in Minnesota. While we lived there, we were able to attend a parenting course from them in our church. Lots of my content on Instagram is inspired by this course.

Anyway, lately, I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from mothers. Moms who felt motivated and encouraged by my content.

Society often puts a lot of pressure on us mothers. And that can feel lonely at times.

The German culture lives a lot out of, "This is how it always has been. So keep it up." It's hard to follow your heart sometimes if it doesn't fit into the boxes. Our children don't go to Kindergarten. I have made this decision because I have been working in Kindergarten, and I don't see it to be "the best place" for our children even though, most people would say it is.

I plan to create parenting courses and workshops. I don't want to make it about money though, since a lot of parents who would need the encouragement might not be able to afford it. I am praying a lot about this at the moment and am curious myself how God keeps guiding me. I would love to find a way to create some revenue while being able to help families who don't have the extra money.

My Instagram account is all in German, so, most of you won't be able to understand. Someday I might create an English version. But our time is tight already at the moment since the kids should get the most attention. If you want to see it anyway: Erziehungseck (Click on the funny-looking German word)
